The Love Story of King Charles III and Queen Camilla

On May 6, 2023, this non-traditional couple will be crowned king and queen consort at Westminster Abbey.

2022: A Happy Couple

Camilla provides a rare interview in the June edition of British Vogue, in which she discussed their marriage.

She states, “We have a brief period of time. We consistently come together and enjoy a mug of tea while conversing about the day. Occasionally, it’s akin to two ships passing each other in the dark, but we continuously strive to allocate a specific time during the day to convene. It can be challenging at times.”

After a few hours of public-facing work, Camilla says it’s lovely to have a bit of quiet, simple together time to recharge. We actually sit and read books in different corners of the same room, which is the nicest thing we know to do when we want to relax.

Harry’s memoir blockbuster, Spare, will be released in January 2023. William, Prince Harry’s brother, pleaded with his father not to marry Camilla, claiming that he is particularly harsh towards his stepmother.

During his appearance on 60 Minutes with host Anderson Cooper, Prince Harry mentions that there was a mutual willingness from both parties to exchange information. Given the hierarchical structure of his family and his wife’s future role as Queen Consort, he expresses concern that there might be individuals or groups left neglected or marginalized. In his book and subsequent interviews, Prince Harry also describes Queen Camilla as a “perilous” individual who is determined to improve her public perception.

“She wed the individual she adored and this is the outcome,” Parker Bowles expressed on the podcast The News Agents. “I couldn’t care less about others’ opinions–this was not at all some kind of ultimate goal,” Camilla’s offspring, Tom Parker Bowles, indirectly retaliates against his stepbrother’s allegations in April.

2023: The Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla

Royal observers are surprised when the palace releases the official invitation for the coronation set on May 6, 2023. The invitation refers to Camilla as “Queen Consort Camilla” instead of “Queen Camilla,” simply using her first name, Camilla.

According to a royal source, all former Queen Consorts have been known by their first name followed by ‘Queen’. The appropriate time to start using ‘Camilla Queen’ in an official capacity is during the coronation. The title ‘Camilla Queen’ is the appropriate choice against ‘Charles King’ as stated in the invitation. In order to distinguish from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, it was decided to refer to the Consort Queen as Her Majesty in the early months of His Majesty’s reign.

Queen Mary’s Crown will be worn by her. When it is announced that Elliot Arthur, her great-nephew, and Louis Gus, Freddy Bowles Parker, her grandchildren, will be pages, Royalists are further surprised by the prominence given to Camilla’s family in the coronation lineup.

Now king and queen, it seems Charles and Camilla’s unconventional love story is truly something out of a sweet but scandalous storybook.
