These are the top five most significant moments from the trial.
‘Trump sexually assaulted me,’ Carroll alleges
She was sexually assaulted and pushed up against a wall. He then led her into a dressing room and shut the door. She said that he asked her to help him buy some lingerie as a gift. They ran into another department store near the entrance of Goodman Bergdorf in 1996. Trump and Carroll were joking and laughing, as she told members of the jury.
Carroll testified, “Donald Trump raped me because I’m here.” He said it didn’t happen when I wrote about it. He lied and my reputation was shattered. Now I’m trying to get my life back here.
It was the initial instance a previous U.S. Leader had been charged with sexual assault in a public trial.
The ‘quiet generation’
After the exchange with Tacopina, she introduced several columns of advice for Elle magazine, in which she suggested that readers call the police in the event of a sexual attack, because she is a member of the “silent generation” that didn’t speak up about such things.
Tacopina stated that despite numerous instances where readers were advised to report her alleged rape to the police, Carroll never reported it herself.
Carroll responded, stating, “I was born in 1943.” “I belong to the silent generation. Our chins were instructed to stay strong and refrain from complaining, women like myself. It is not unexpected, considering my age, that I never contacted the police. I would prefer to do anything other than call the police.”
Trump is not visible
Trump may decide to testify as one criminal and it was not a civil case, but a trial that progressed to start, said Tacopina.
The attorney informed the court that the accuser would not testify, suggesting that he would return to New York to confront Trump about the remarks made in Europe while golfing.
In view of those remarks, the judge in the case granted Trump an extension until Sunday to file a motion, with the sole intention of allowing him to testify and reopen the case.
The judge stated, “I will at least contemplate it if he has a change of heart.” However, without submitting any legal request, Trump ultimately concluded and did not show up for the trial.
The Marla occurrence
Carroll’s attorneys seized on Trump’s deposition last year after he momentarily mistook Carroll, her then-husband John Johnson, Trump, and his then-wife Ivana Trump, when shown a 1980s-era photograph of Carroll.
“That’s Marla, yeah. That’s my spouse,” Trump stated concerning Carroll, as per the deposition.
Post Social Truth 2022, Trump’s attorneys argued in court that Jean E. Carroll’s allegations calling her a “Hoax” and “lie” are not true.
‘Entry Hollywood’
Trump’s mistaken identification of Carroll was juxtaposed by Carroll’s attorneys on the infamous 2005 “Access Hollywood” tape, where he is heard saying about women that “I simply begin kissing them.”
It has the ability to accomplish any task. When you become a star, they allow you to do whatever you want. “And the tape was played for the jury,” Trump says, “I don’t even have to wait to kiss. I just kiss. It’s like a magnet. As soon as I start kissing, I automatically attract them. I know you.”
“Whatever you desire,” another voice on the recording can be heard saying.
“Seize them by the p-,” Trump asserts. “You have the capacity to achieve anything.”
Carroll’s attorney asked, “What is Trump doing here?” In reference to the tape. “How does he treat women with his own words? It’s his modus operandi.”
