They expressed their gratitude for the care, discernment, and grace in bringing their life’s context to fruition, and thanked the people behind the film. Before the screening, they walked onstage to a round of loud and welcoming applause. However, despite the troubling allegations of grooming behavior towards minors that have surfaced since their first public appearance, Ezra Miller, the embattled actor who identifies as nonbinary, made their debut at the Los Angeles premiere of The Flash in June.
Authorities say someone broke into a person’s home and stole bottles of alcohol, resulting in charges of felony burglary. The incident occurred months ago, but there is no news on whether the missing people have been found. In Vermont, three children were reportedly living in unsafe conditions on a farm, leading to an attempt by the Vermont State Police to issue an emergency order to provide care for them. In Massachusetts, a 12-year-old child and her mother obtained a temporary harassment-prevention order last June, and they also faced allegations of brainwashing from an 18-year-old activist named Eyes Iron (formerly Tokata) Gibson. Miller was accused of multiple instances of physical assault and was arrested twice in 2022. Some specific details depend on the context.
Miller released a statement on Instagram, denouncing the original measure as a “flagrant misuse of the protective order system.” Shortly after, Miller’s attorney purportedly contended that the actor was “never unaccompanied with the child and never engaged with the child outside of two brief encounters which took place in the presence of several other adults” just before it was due to expire; a judge in Massachusetts lifted the protective order on Friday. In Vermont, they reached a plea agreement on two of the charges filed against them in January 2023. In August 2022, Miller issued an apology through a representative, revealing that they had commenced treatment for “multifaceted mental health concerns.”
“The phrase ‘need of these services’ is often used by individuals who seek personal vengeance, fleeting fame, or attention. However, it is important to recognize that these services are not intended to be used as weapons. Protective orders are meant to ensure the safety of children, families, and individuals who are in danger.”
Below, a detailed overview of the accusations made against Miller.
Allegations of violence have surrounded Miller since April 2020, when a video emerged that appeared to show Miller choking a woman. The incident took place in a bar in Iceland, where Miller was asked to leave. Although the cops were not called, the incident went viral and the woman spoke with Variety in an interview published on June 30. Miller explained that the marks on their face came from a fight that started after the woman asked about the wounds on their feet. They were still joking about who could win in a brawl when the altercation occurred.
She stated that her friends removed the actor and intervened with Carlos Reynir, the bartender. Reynir informed Variety that Miller seized him by the neck when he attempted to eject them. Reynir recounted, “Miller repeatedly informed me that they are not leaving.” After a final shove, I closed and locked the door, and they proceeded to spit in my face.
The victim, a male, claimed that his credit cards, passport, and Social Security card, along with other personal belongings, were stolen. He alleged that the couple, including Miller, threatened to bury him and his wife and burst into their bedroom while they were staying in Hawaii. The actor, who claimed to have stayed with them, had a temporary restraining order against Miller dismissed and then filed a restraining order against the unnamed couple. The police in Hawaii said that the investigation into the incidents, which happened in April last year, was ongoing. Miller was charged for at least one of the incidents but was released on bail. On both occasions, he allegedly threw a chair at a 26-year-old woman at his private residence. In April, he was arrested again for second-degree assault after allegedly assaulting someone at a karaoke bar, and in March, he was arrested twice in Hawaii for harassment and disorderly conduct.
In June, Sara Jumping Eagle and Chase Iron Eyes sought a protective order on behalf of Iron Eyes Gibson from Miller, who had been living with Miller since December 2021. Originally reported by TMZ, the alleged couple met in 2016 during protests at Standing Rock Reservation, where Miller’s family claimed Gibson, then just 12 years old, developed a friendship with Miller’s parents and flew to London to chaperone a visit to the set of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in 2017.
Miller was ordered to serve the legal documents that were said to have been found on him when he was arrested, including documents related to his trip to Hawaii where he was traveling with Gibson. Gibson believed that Miller had fled to New York to reunite with him, but Gibson said that Miller took him home after three weeks in Hawaii. Gibson found bruises on the teenager’s body, which he claims were inflicted by Miller. Gibson also filed a police report, stating that Miller did not have his ATM card, car keys, or driver’s license. Gibson flew to Vermont to check on Miller’s claims, but could not find any evidence to support them. Gibson’s parents say that in December 2021, they discovered that Miller had been physically abused and provided with drugs and alcohol, including ketamine, marijuana, LSD, and documents alleging that Miller used them to create a sense of indebtedness. Miller claimed that his parents offered to pay his tuition at Bard College in Massachusetts through a foundation called Rock Simon’s College. Gibson was convinced by Miller’s claims and flew to Vermont to check on his parents’ story.
In June 2022, on Instagram, there were unverified reports about Miller denying the claims, calling it a “tragedy”. The statement written on Gibson’s account claimed that Miller had been helping Gibson through the loss of a friend, stating that they had only provided invaluable protection and loving support throughout this period. Since then, Gibson’s private profile has disappeared.
“Ezra ‘permits’ Tokata to utilize Ezra’s mobile device with Ezra in control.” In her writing, Miller had restricted Gibson’s phone usage, she also alleged that Miller had “indoctrinated” Gibson and was “perpetuating sect-like behaviors and psychological mistreatment.” And a few days later, on Twitter, Jumping Eagle and Iron Eyes informed People that they were uncertain if Gibson even had the ability to use a phone, let alone Instagram. In response, the actions of Gibson’s parents were labeled as a “blatant betrayal.” It concluded by denouncing any involvement of law enforcement in this case as “a futile use of time and resources” and asserted that it was actually Gibson’s parents who were culpable of “emotional and psychological manipulation,” labeling the statement as such.
They expressed, “Do not trust any given individual who questions the distressing narrative of the victim, as they stated their personal conviction. Now, I do not have the right to control my Instagram account, nobody does.” In order to defend the same account, they posted a video, which led to people questioning its authenticity.
“It’s nobody’s business,” they added. “This is my life. These are my decisions. And I’m disappointed in my parents and the press.”.
Following the incident, Gibson swiftly shared the video. Soon after, Chief Bear Cross, their uncle, who asserted that he accommodated Gibson and Miller in December 2021, published a comprehensive narrative about his interaction with Miller. Chief maintained that Miller confided in him about their joint consumption of marijuana and ketamine, also mentioning that Miller brought a firearm into his residence and continuously monitored Gibson. This information was disclosed during an interview with Last Real Indians.
Miller expressed regret but made multiple visits to the residence on three separate occasions in the following months. On one occasion, Miller even embraced the child, which caused discomfort. Gradually, the parents observed that Miller’s pupils were dilated, and they were wearing a bulletproof vest. Both adults noticed that Miller became fixated on the 12-year-old, excessively complimenting them and moving their chair closer. The child, feeling “really uncomfortable” and “scared,” expressed their unease. At some point, Miller had several outbursts while at the neighbor’s house on the evening of February 2. It was also discovered that Miller and the neighbor shared a mutual friend. The Daily Beast, which had access to the signed order and interviewed the mother, child, and neighbor, reported that Miller not only threatened the family but also behaved inappropriately towards their nonbinary child. As a result, an unnamed mother and her 12-year-old child in Greenfield, Massachusetts, were granted a temporary harassment prevention order against Miller about a week after the news of Jumping Eagle and Iron Eyes’s protective order became public.
“And for those who are close to me, this difficult situation has caused me to take actions to reverse the harmful consequences and prioritize my own well-being in order to continue being the person that everyone knows I strive to be,” Miller added. “I have clicked on the group that is accusing me and chasing this story, and I want to accurately report the truth in this context, highlighting the false claims that some members of the media have recklessly spread,” the actor continued. On Instagram, Miller wrote that they had been directly and unjustly targeted by a “destructive and manipulative” person. After a protective order was lifted, Miller stated that they had never been armed during any encounters and had only interacted with the child at the invitation of the mother, Miller’s attorney told Deadline according to the Greenfield District Court on June 30, 2023.
Ever since their departure, he has been unable to encounter or communicate with them. The children’s father claimed that Miller transported his family out of Hawaii without informing him. In the course of this time, they were detained twice for assault and disorderly behavior. As per the report, Miller encountered the woman in March in Hilo, Hawaii, during the same journey in which Gibson accompanied them. Rolling Stone reported on June 23, 2022, that for several months, a 25-year-old mother and her three young children (aged 1 to 5) had been residing on Miller’s 96-acre farm in Stamford, Vermont, under hazardous circumstances.
In mid-May, the father, who visited the house, requested the local police and the Department of Families and Children to intervene. He stated that the social worker who visited the house found the police unresponsive and did not see anything wrong. However, two other unnamed sources claim that there were unattended weapons in the house and that the conditions of living were unsafe, particularly for the children who seem to have been in the house at some point.
According to Rolling Stone, the mother was still sharing photos on Instagram as of June 20, 2022, even though she was on the farm. The father refuted allegations of abuse. Ezra has been providing a secure and nurturing environment for the kids, allowing them to feel more at ease in their recovery,” she added. She mentioned that Miller may possess firearms for self-protection, but they are kept in an area of the house that the children never enter. She firmly believes that her children are completely safe there and considers the farm a place of healing for herself and her children, whom she assisted in leaving a “violent and abusive ex,” as stated directly to the magazine by Miller. The woman residing on Miller’s farm contradicted the father’s statements in Rolling Stone’s interview, suggesting that the magazine had spoken with her directly.
Later, approximately two months later, Rolling Stone disclosed that the Vermont authorities had attempted to deliver an emergency-care order to the lady at Miller’s farm and take custody of the children. However, the police were unsuccessful in locating her, as Miller informed the officials that she had not resided at the farm for several months. According to an affidavit written by a caseworker from the Vermont Department for Children and Families, the police allegedly suspected that Miller was aiding the woman in “evading service” of the order. In late July, the mother shared social media posts from the farm, and Rolling Stone claims that she maintained a nearly daily presence on the platform until her account seemingly vanished around mid-July.
In February 2022, a woman who introduced herself as Nadia stated that Miller exhibited concerning behavior while visiting her residence in Berlin. Nadia mentioned that she had been acquainted with Miller for two years but had not seen them in person since their sexual encounter in 2020. When she requested that Miller refrain from smoking indoors, their demeanor suddenly changed. Nadia expressed, “That action triggered them.” She repeatedly asked Miller to depart, possibly more than 20 times. They proceeded to insult her, labeling her as a ‘transphobic piece of excrement’ and a ‘Nazi.’ This situation became extremely distressing for her. They roamed around her home, inspecting everything, touching various items, and scattering tobacco leaves on the floor. It felt repulsive and highly invasive.
After feeling extremely unsafe, Variety reported that she proceeded to file a criminal complaint in April. Additionally, five individuals who Nadia conversed with following the incident validated her narrative. Despite this, she continued to harbor concerns that they might potentially engage in physical aggression towards her. However, Nadia made it clear that she did not suspect Miller of intending to sexually assault her.
In 2020, during their time in Iceland, Insider Business shed more light on actor Miller’s alleged behavior, including detailed rumors about a cult that he started. According to the report from Insider Business, Miller stayed at an Airbnb where they invited other young people and artists to join them. Unnamed witnesses claimed that Miller alluded to possessing supernatural powers and would hold court with their guests every day, as stated by Insider.
Miller was alleged to be extremely manipulative and psychologically abusive, as claimed by another young woman quoted in the story, who said she met Miller during a musical retreat organized by the actor. She was there for almost a week.
Miller’s domineering behavior towards Gibson, including his insistence on changing her name from Tokata to Gibson, was observed by Ignatius. Ignatius claimed to have witnessed Miller’s controlling demeanor towards Gibson, which involved him insisting on changing her name from Tokata to Gibson. The report also contained detailed accusations from Oliver Ignatius, who was identified as a former music collaborator of Miller’s. Gibson denied the allegations. According to Ignatius, once they returned to Vermont in May, Miller took Gibson’s phone and berated her for wearing makeup. However, Gibson refuted the accusations and told Insider, “That was an odd conversation about poorly applied makeup on my part, which I appreciated. I believe that labeling a snide remark made by a homosexual individual about makeup as abuse is actually a form of homophobic rhetoric.” Ignatius further claimed that Miller took Gibson’s phone once they returned to Vermont in May and shouted at her for wearing makeup.
Rosie D’Ercole, a 24-year-old fashion designer and yoga teacher, came to the defense of Miller in the article. She described Ignatius’s claims as “highly exaggerated,” accusing her of allegedly appropriating Native American culture by placing a feather in her hair while on a beach in Hawaii. In her email, she further stated that “Ezra has only sought to defend those close to them, regardless of the relentless media scrutiny and defamation.” In response to Ignatius’s claims that Miller shouted at her.
Gibson confirmed to Insider that Miller has been sporting a trendy precautionary measure in light of real assaults and menacing dangers – a bulletproof vest.
Two residents from Vermont were also ordered to stay away after the reported burglary. They pleaded not guilty to one count of petit larceny and one count of burglary. The residents were out of their home when several bottles of alcohol were taken, which led to charges stemming from an incident in May last year. Police responded to a burglary complaint in Stamford and Miller was charged with felony burglary in August 2022, according to a report reviewed by Variety Police State Vermont.
Last year, on August 15th, Miller released a statement explaining that they had started treatment for a variety of mental health issues.
Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment. I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.

According to reports, it was advised to refrain from provoking a hornet’s nest due to previous incidents of stinging. An insider allegedly cautioned Vanity Fair to avoid meddling with the matter. The publication referred to a couple in Hawaii who alleged that Miller unlawfully entered their residence and stole their passport and wallet, but later withdrew their charges against the actor. Sources state that Miller has been compensating purported victims and seeking agreements to keep the details confidential. A Vanity Fair report in September asserted that Miller and their associates have been employing a legal strategy resembling the game “whack-a-mole,” as stated by three anonymous sources.
The actor’s spokesperson declined to provide a statement, but did address several additional accusations made against Miller. The representative disregarded the restraining order filed by the 12-year-old nonbinary individual against Miller, stating, “Ezra’s disinterest evidently upset a disappointed supporter when they chose not to interact with the supporter or her child.” According to Miller’s representative, as reported by Vanity Fair, they were cooking for their mother and decided to visit a friend’s house for wine without realizing that the friendship had ended.
] Wouldn’t take responsibility and just label me as abusive because of my reaction.”
Meanwhile, three unnamed sources, who were also mentioned in the article, described Miller’s “openly polyamorous lifestyle” as one where he belittles others, screams at them, and creates division among women, all while exerting control over their sexual activities as the dominant figure.
Miller’s spokesperson denied that their relationship was anything other than platonic,” Jumping Eagle, Tokata’s mother, informed VF. “They claim to be some sort of savior, and they intend to spearhead an Indigenous uprising,” an anonymous individual informed the publication. “And that’s the ‘true’ reason why everyone is so opposed to their union,” another unnamed person shared with the magazine. A source allegedly close to Miller and Tokata Iron Eyes described their connection to Vanity Fair, asserting that the actor enjoys proclaiming that they are destined to be together. “Ezra is like Jesus and Tokata is an apocalyptic Native American spider deity, and their partnership is believed to trigger the apocalypse,” an unidentified source revealed to the magazine.
Ezra, the attorney representing Lisa Shelkrot, expressed gratitude to the community and the court for their ongoing support and love in acknowledging the vital importance of continuing to receive mental health support from friends and family. In a statement, Attorney Miller stated that Ezra and Lisa would once again like to thank their community and the court for their patience and trust throughout this process. It was reported that Miller accepted a plea for their Vermont charges, pleading guilty to the misdemeanor charge of unlawful trespassing, as published in court documents by the deadline. The charges of petit larceny and burglary were waived. The plea is set to take effect in January 2023.
Warner Bros. Launched the first trailer for the superhero film during Super Bowl LVII, further emphasizing the studio’s endorsement of Miller and The Flash. In addition, the trailer showcases not only one, but two Millers (time travel is incorporated), as if that wasn’t sufficient.
The Flash was showcased at CinemaCon, where WB presented it in late April 2023. On various online platforms, spectators and reviewers expressed their admiration for the film, describing it as “remarkable,” “innovative,” and “enchanting,” with some going as far as declaring it “among the finest superhero movies ever made.” Miller’s performance garnered overwhelmingly positive feedback, with one critic tweeting: “Despite Ezra Miller’s past blunders, they deliver an exceptionally impressive performance in this movie.”
