I am currently – literally – WEDGED between two OBESE people on my flight.
This is absolutely NOT acceptable or okay. If fat people want to be fat, fine. But it is something else entirely when I’m stuck between you, with your arm rolls on my body, for 3 hours. pic.twitter.com/9uIqcpJO8I

You are too fat to fit on a plane, so she suggested that you use a seatbelt extender. I can assure you that it is not necessary. I feel sick, pretending to be fat to this extent is abnormal. There is no room because the armrests on either side cannot be put down. My entire body is currently being touched against my wishes. If I don’t care, this is mean. Sydney followed up with a series of mean tweets and didn’t hold back. Output: If you are too overweight to fit on a plane, she recommended that you use a seatbelt extender. Even more superior, observe Sydney articulate in her own phrases what transpired in the video located below.
American Airlines’ social media team replied, “We apologize for any discomfort you experienced during your flight. Our passengers vary in size and shape.”
Our passengers come in all different sizes and shapes. We’re sorry you were uncomfortable on your flight.

“If the American airline’s stance is that passengers come in all sizes, then their seats should be designed to accommodate those various sizes. However, it seems that the airlines are actually making the seats smaller in order to maximize their profits from the flights. In my opinion, the true issue lies in this decision,” tweeted Jorj McKie. While some individuals supported the obese passengers, others sided with Sydney. As expected, this caused a division on the internet.

I empathize with the pain experienced by all three travelers, and despite my reluctance to support someone as unkind as Sydney, I believe she was correct. This belief was reinforced after reading American Airlines’ official policy regarding passengers of larger size. The policy states that if a customer requires additional space beyond what a single seat provides for safe travel, they must purchase another seat. We encourage customers to address their seating needs at the time of booking. If you call to make a reservation, the staff will ensure that you are assigned two adjacent seats at the same price. If you did not reserve an extra seat in advance, you can ask an airport agent if two adjacent seats are available. They may offer you a seat in a higher class of service that provides more space, but you will be responsible for paying the fare difference. If it is not possible to make accommodations on your original flight, you have the option to purchase seats on a different flight at the same price as your original seats.
Can Watson not move, like a passenger on a flight attending the working flight attendants? When booking, the passenger’s job is to specify the extra space needed to “safely travel to a seat outside of a single seat.” However, American Airlines’ policy doesn’t really specify what constitutes a person needing extra space. But I barely fit in coach seats and weigh 200 lbs, and I’m just shy of 6 feet tall. Australians and Americans are getting bigger, and there is no denying that airline seats are getting smaller.
Here are some tips for everyone on how to get upgraded in class. They should really try to purchase or upgrade their seats first, but I felt bad for the person in the situation. Once, I couldn’t lower my table tray because my seatmate’s stomach was in the way. I can’t imagine being wedged between two people of larger size, so it’s not fun at all. There have been many times when I ended up sitting next to someone much larger than me.
Apparently, they had no desire to be squished together. As it happens, the two overweight passengers were journeying together and they preferred not to occupy adjacent seats, exacerbating Sydney’s predicament.
Internally screaming began at that moment and… 🙂 Alright, that’s a “no.” My sister said that she and I could switch seats if you’d like to sit together. “Hey,” I said to the man, “I just tweeted Sydney.”
If the plane isn’t full, those who are smart will pick the seats last, leaving the middle seat open and taking the tactic of taking the window and aisle seats.
In order to sit next to each other, one of you will need to relocate to the middle seat if someone chooses to sit there. However, if no one claims the middle seat, a clever trick for experienced travelers is to reserve the window and aisle seats when the row consists of three seats. When traveling as a duo, it is advantageous to wish for the middle seat to remain unoccupied.
These days, however, airlines and travel are not experiencing the same demand as before the pandemic, despite the fact that many flights are operating at full capacity, thanks to pent-up demand.
If the plane was completely full, the only way they would have been able to sit between them is if someone had kept the seat next to you empty. Travelers might have better luck on Southwest Airlines, where there is open seating, so their sister and brother might have had a better chance.
I would prefer to take the $150 refund offered to me by American Airlines, rather than giving it to someone who needs a gym membership or a personal trainer. In response, Sydney replied, “Instead of giving her a $150 travel credit, American Airlines sent Watson, the executive of their team, a generous apology letter stating that the flight attendants were sorry they couldn’t move her to a different seat.”
Well, here’s the email I got from American Airlines. pic.twitter.com/bfa2jwoZYE

Avoid ever being trapped in a seat sandwiched between two individuals by adhering to these guidelines and securing the finest economy class seat on an aircraft. It is always advisable to steer clear of the middle seat as it can lead to an unpleasant ordeal when squeezed between two larger individuals. However, sitting next to one larger individual can still be bearable. Here are some methods to evade such circumstances in the days to come.
In the worst-case scenario, if someone spills into your seat before the aircraft is ready for takeoff, you can privately ask the flight attendant to move you to another seat, preferably closer to the door of the plane. This way, you won’t have to take the later flight, which could be even more crowded, and the passenger next to you won’t be as bothersome. It’s a good idea to alert the flight attendants about the situation, as they have a lot to do before the aircraft gets ready for takeoff.
And what about you? What would you do if you were in a situation similar to Sydney’s?
