Heigl Marie Katherine, the daughter of Nancy and Paul Heigl, was born on November 24, 1978, in Washington D.C. At Columbia Hospital for Women. She is the youngest of her parents’ four other siblings, Meg Heigl, Jason Heigl, Holt Heigl, and John Heigl.
At the age of 5, Heigl alternated between Northern Virginia and Denver before ultimately relocating to New Canaan, Connecticut with her family. She is an American with Irish and German descent. Her father served as a financial executive and accountant, while her mother pursued a career as a personal manager.
In 1986, Jason, her older brother, tragically lost his life in a car accident after being thrown from the back of a pickup truck while out for lunch with some of his high school classmates. This incident led to the conversion of Katherine Heigl’s Catholic father and Lutheran mother to the Latter-day Saints faith.
