Season 1
During Rolf’s initial performance, he noticed multiple times that “this is significantly different from football.” At both the commencement and conclusion of the show, Vanna practically had to bear the entire final section. Rolf’s inaugural episode was an unusual venture, with Vanna exiting during the show’s introduction to present Rolf to the audience. The issue was that Rolf had no prior television experience. In 1988, Merv Griffin discovered the former football place-kicker and determined that he would be the perfect fit for the daytime Wheel. Strangely, Pat departed on a Monday and was substituted the following day by the renowned Rolf Benirschke…Well, renowned if you were a fan of the San Diego Chargers.

This season, the shirts feature the traditional logo with the Round 4 template as the Wheel part of the logo, and the show offers official T-shirts and sweatshirts to all contestants as consolation prizes. These changes will last until at least Season 9. In the Bonus Round, there may be the most expensive vacation offered, which is a $45,576 “Trip of a Lifetime” on some weeks this season. Additionally, there will be a week this season where a $75,000 Russian sable mink coat is offered. The $25,000 sign, which is composed of green and blue light bulbs and shaped like an elongated hexagon, will debut as the second and more familiar sign. Furthermore, if Pat hits Bankrupt on the Final Spin, the slide whistle will no longer sound as of this season. The Prize wedges’ lettering will return to normal. The “off-model” $300 wedge, which is shorter and narrower than the other wedges and covers the Free Spin, will be changed to the Clarendon font in Round 2. The $2,500 and $3,500 wedges will also be in the Clarendon font, and slight changes will be made to the Wheel. Additionally, a “registered trademark” (®) symbol will be added to the show’s logo. These are the changes that will be made to the show this year.

The show’s logo is enlarged and modified to feature the WHEEL, OF, and FORTUNE graphics on the scoreboards during the final segment. If a contestant possesses the Big Money wedge, the score is labeled with the words “Big Money.” In the event of a Lose A Turn, the scoreboard now displays those words on two lines instead of one. The Bankrupt and Lose A Turn graphics now appear and disappear in various ways. The control is indicated by the blinking name, while the contestant’s name is written in small letters above the score. For this week of taping only, the score is displayed using very tall numbers. The opening showcases the 25th Anniversary logo on the scoreboards.
