This interactive event, known as the WWII Dallas Over Wings Airshow, will take place on November 11-13, 2022, and will commemorate the Airforce’s role in World War II. The skies of Dallas, Texas, will once again be filled with the excitement of this event.
The airshow is expected to include various aircraft such as the B-29 Superfortress FIFI, B-24 Liberator Diamond Lil, C-47 That’s All, Brother, P-51 Mustang Tuskegee Airmen, B-17 Flying Fortress Texas Raiders, and others. This year, the event will showcase a wide range of aircraft including bombers, fighters, and support planes. Over forty World War II-era aircraft will participate in historic reenactments of air battles and aerial activities. The pyrotechnic effects will include an aerial reenactment of the attack on Pearl Harbor, known as TORA, TORA, TORA, which will also be featured at Wings Over Dallas.
The Voices Veterans event will allow the crowd to step back in time and enjoy various activities on the ground, including living history encampments that provide an authentic military vintage feeling. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy spectacular aerial displays, all in honor of the sacrifice and service of Rosie the Riveter and World War II veterans, including members of the Greatest Generation.
Students will be able to explore various careers in aviation and participate in hands-on STEM activities at the Discovery Aviation Zone event, including completing workstations, earning rewards based on riveting activities, and engaging in simulated experiences such as pre-flight aircraft inspections, flight simulators, and take-and-make activities.
On November 11, Friday, Dallas Over Wings will host an “Education Day” event, providing a unique opportunity for a limited number of students and teachers to register and experience up close the history of World War II through interactive exhibits and live storytelling by veterans. This online event will allow thousands of students to participate and learn about the history of the war.
