About Clare

In 2012, Clare Bowen purchased a single-way ticket to Los Angeles, following the guidance of Cate Blanchett, the artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company and an Oscar winner. Throughout this period, she established herself as a sought-after actress on both sides of the Atlantic, receiving critical acclaim for her role in the highly controversial Australian movie The Combination, which was directed by David Field, as well as for her leading role as Wendlain in the Sydney Theatre Company’s musical production of “Spring Awakening.” Along the journey, these early experiences served as inspiration, propelling Bowen towards Nashville and its music community. It would take approximately another decade before she would collaborate with well-known artists like Zac Brown and Vince Gill, and record songs with GRAMMY-winning producers such as T Bone Burnett and Buddy Miller. Bowen listened to her first broadcast of the Grand Ole Opry on the radio in her grandfather’s kitchen. These references quickly expanded to include country legends like Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash. She was raised on her parents’ collection of vinyl records, encompassing a wide range of genres from Paul Simon, Gilbert and Sullivan, Vivaldi, Elvis, Dolly Parton, Springsteen, Edith Piaf, to Etta James. As a child who spent more time with animals than with people, she often struggled with social interactions, but music served as the universal language that broke down barriers. “Music was my gateway to the rest of the world,” she explains. A young Clare Bowen was growing up in rural Australia, far away from the nearest city, diligently documenting her thoughts, experiences, observations, and dreams, before ultimately landing the iconic role of Scarlett O’Connor on the NASHVILLE TV series, aired on CMT/HULU, and embarking on her career as a singer/songwriter.

In the upcoming months, the album will make its first appearance in the United States and the rest of the globe. Completely sold-out performances throughout the United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia supported Clare’s headline tour in favor of the international release of her self-titled album. Subsequently, she made appearances in various cities across the United States, including Los Angeles, Portland, and Denver, as part of Sugarland’s ‘Still the Same Tour’, marking the band’s initial tour in over ten years. Clare managed to secure a highly sought-after spot on the tour alongside her singer/songwriter husband, Brandon Robert Young. Additionally, Clare and the cast of NASHVILLE embarked on a global tour in between seasons, selling out renowned venues such as the iconic Royal Albert Hall and London’s O2 Arena. The show served as inspiration for 22 soundtracks, including a Christmas album, which collectively garnered over one million album units and more than five million individual song downloads up to the present day. NASHVILLE enjoyed a successful run of six seasons, airing a total of 115 episodes, and concluded in the summer of 2018. The role played by Bowen was particularly meaningful to her, as she battled cancer starting at the age of four and faced the challenges of the disease for many years. Her Folk and Americana music is heavily influenced by a difficult childhood, and she landed the role of a young poet turned songwriter during her initial year in America, taking the bus to her NASHVILLE audition.
