Anita Baker drops Babyface from Songstress tour after claims of cyberbullying from fans

After receiving criticism on social media the following week, Anita Baker, the super singer-songwriter and producer, dropped him from the remainder of her tour during her absence on stage in May.

On Tuesday, Kenneth Edmonds, also known as Babyface, revealed that he had received threatening messages from his fans, whom he affectionately referred to as “Crazies.” Concerned for her safety, Tuesday blamed the cyberbullying on Babyface’s fans and their posts on Twitter, which were filled with a series of emojis and commas.

Fans respond to the Babyface and Baker ‘feud’: ‘I was really looking forward to seeing both of them’.

“Relevant reimbursements will be issued,” she stated. “With regards to individual well-being, I will proceed with The Songstress Tour independently after enduring online harassment, verbal mistreatment, and violent intimidations from the followers of our featured guest/assist act.”

Babyface expressed his sadness on Tuesday regarding his removal from the tour.

I was looking forward to the rest of the dates, but it is disheartening and unfortunate to see how he has played things out via social media. I have respect and love for Anita, but I have nothing else to say. Best wishes to her for the remainder of her tour.

The performance – a defective video wall that was included in his stage production, resulted in Babyface being absent from a concert in Newark, New Jersey on May 10, which led Baker, who is 65 years old, to reach out to Babyface, who is from Indianapolis, to explain the reason for the delay and urge his fans not to criticize her.

Baker hinted at offering $200,000 for Babyface’s production “and, yet, they grumble and delay the show.”

The tour, which started on February 15th, included six shows in Newark, with the last one beginning at 7 p.M. And continuing for two hours after.

‘Kenny’s Enthusiasts’: Anita Baker claims that supporters of Babyface are harassing her due to her shortened performance.

Babyface told his followers on social media that Queen was mocked and criticized for her quiet and understated performance at the stormy format set. He also mentioned that many celebrities and fans had requested Baker to perform in her place, but she declined.

Posts have documented clashes with fellow performers, spanning from a joint tour alongside Luther Vandross in 1988 to an incident involving the mother of Disney Channel child star China Anne McClain in 2018.

People were posting negative feedback about the May 10 performance on the Ticketmaster website throughout June.

Babyface explained on May 11th that production crews were unable to get a screen video of his performance running for time.

“At the time, he expressed deep regret to the fans and holds nothing but affection and admiration for Anita,” he stated.

Prior to Tuesday, Babyface had refrained from expressing any opinions on the canceled performance, offering insights into Baker’s social media activity, or addressing those who have been disapproving of her in relation to the incident. Apart from that statement and a subsequent concert stop where she expressed gratitude.

This is not the initial disagreement between the two regarding collaborating.

In 2006, Babyface filed a lawsuit against Baker for breaching a contract, claiming that she broke an agreement to cancel two concert dates with him and also owed him for producing the song “Do You Like” in 2004, which he co-wrote and performed well.

Baker last week said on Twitter that she prevailed in the lawsuit and there were no hard feelings between the two performers.

“The Songstress” album, Baker’s inaugural solo release, celebrates the 40th anniversary of the tour, during which Babyface, a highly acclaimed artist in the R&B genre, was erroneously perceived as a co-headliner.

Baker has eight Grammy Awards and albums that have achieved multi-platinum status.

And Babyface, aged 64, is not exactly lacking in talent when it comes to entertaining.

The release of “Slow Jam,” which he co-wrote, and the debut album of his group The Deele (“Body Talk”) in 1983, along with his arrival on music charts, signifies a significant milestone anniversary for him this year, marking 40 years.

Anita Baker’s diva behavior prompts fans to react by cutting Babyface from the show.

The North Central High School grad has won 50 nominations and 12 Grammys for Producer of the Year, including hits written or produced for the likes of Outkast and Pink, Usher, TLC, Toni Braxton, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Boyz II Men, and Michael Jackson; he co-founded the record label LaFace Records with L.A. Reid and launched their recording careers from 1996 to 1998.

The online community is still showering him with praise for the NRP Tiny Desk performance released on Friday.

November and December are scheduled for shows, along with seven other shows. The Songstress Baker’s tour will stop in Detroit on July 2nd, and then in Chicago on June 30th for a performance. There are no other shows scheduled in Indianapolis.
