Father of murdered hip hop star Sidhu Moose Wala says investigation is moving too slowly

His father claims that he is devastated by the murder of his son, one year after the passing of Punjabi rap sensation Sidhu Moose Wala.

Mr. Singh has exclusively spoken to Sky News, expressing his inability to heal from the pain of losing his child.

Sidhu Moose Wala gained immense popularity in Punjab and among the Sikh community in the UK and Canada, establishing himself as a well-known figure. He has successfully launched over 60 singles, earning a worldwide reputation.

His dad is currently in the United Kingdom working on establishing a lasting homage to the Punjabi rap sensation.

We met in Kent, deciding to chat at the nearby Sikh temple where the family, including Sidhu, would frequently go.

Mr Singh’s dialogue with us established a peaceful sanctuary for Gravesend’s Gurdwara, splendid are the detailed stonework and elaborate wood carvings.

As we strolled through the cloisters, we spotted him and engaged in conversations while occasionally pausing to acknowledge several individuals. It was evident that he felt completely comfortable in this sacred space.

We ascended the staircase made of white marble in order to locate a spot where we could converse away from the gathering.

We met in the week prior to the commemoration of Moose Wala’s passing.

“I felt completely devastated,” Mr Singh informed me.

You would completely devastate it in this manner, and when a child from a humble family is removed from existence, I felt disoriented.

In Mansa, Punjab, on May 29th of last year, an unidentified gunman shot and killed a person named Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, who goes by the real name of Wala Moose.

To redistribute resources, the fresh administration of Punjab publicly declared that the state’s security would be diminished the day before.

‘Death threats’.

The family claims that the timing was questionable and now they also feel that their safety is at risk.

Mr. Singh said, “We come from a hardworking, honest family, where even an animal wouldn’t kill you that way, yet my only child is still killed.”

Do we possess security? An ominous warning I am subjected to every alternate day. Have I committed any wrongdoing? Should I refrain from pursuing justice for my son? Is this something I am entitled to do?

Mr Singh, who is weary in his battle for justice, is a cause of frustration due to the perceived absence of advancement in the investigation.

The case is ‘progressing at a very sluggish pace’.

If the case carries on at the same pace, there will be no justice for my son, and I will die. I want to emphasize to your viewers around the world that this is the saddest thing about all this.

Up to this point, 27 individuals have been imprisoned for their involvement in the killing, and the inquiry is still in progress.

Sky News contacted the Punjab police and state government to inquire about the progress of the murder investigation but did not receive a reply.

Moose Wala embarked on his musical voyage in 2016.

After completing his engineering studies, he relocated to Canada, a country that has witnessed the immigration of numerous Sikhs.

The hip-hop artist was famous for blending contemporary hip-hop and traditional Punjabi music, which brought together Punjabi audiences from different countries.

As Moose Wala’s career advanced, his songs grew increasingly aware of social, cultural, and political issues.

He made history by being the first Indian vocalist to display his talent at the Wireless Festival in 2021.

Firearms and agricultural machinery.

However, his music had been contentious.

According to his father, the depiction provided by his son is quite different from reality, as reported by Sky News. Firearms would occasionally appear in his music videos and on his social media accounts, which he had a strong fondness for.

“They are trying to tarnish his reputation. He was a well-known celebrity in the world. Wrong accusations have been made against him. It happened after Sidhu’s death.”

“Even though he was such a famous person, he was a humble individual.

He would always go out with his tractor to the fields instead of going to pubs and clubs, but he even wrote songs in which he expressed his lack of interest in going out.

The family didn’t come to Gravesend often, but had a base here where family and friends would welcome them with open arms.

We were shown the accommodation where Moose Wala and his family would reside during their time in the United Kingdom.

His bed remains neatly arranged.

His life was abruptly ended prior to his final trip in September 2021, only a few months before his belongings were not relocated. The singer’s bed remains intact.

“That’s where he would play on the PlayStation,” Mr Singh informs me.

His friends bring forth his harmonium: “This is what he would utilize to rehearse his music in this location,” expresses his father.

Despite the absence of his son, which served as a poignant reminder, Mr. Singh desired to demonstrate that it was a secluded location.

“I rarely enter this room.”

“Being in this room evokes memories and emotions from the past.”

“I feel a lump in my throat, so I can’t stay here for an extended period.”
