“Naatu Naatu” from Variant Films’ Indian hit RRR was honored with the Best Song accolade, whereas Justin Hurwitz was presented with the Best Score award for Paramount’s Babylon.

They returned home without any reward, but both Paramount’s Maverick Gun: Top and Disney’s Water of Way The Avatar’s were vying for the prestigious Drama Picture Best award at the marquee of the year 2022. These two films emerged as the highest-grossing ones of the year, among other major contenders in the awards season.

Respectively, Elementary Abbott’s ABC won the Best Comedy and Dragon House Max’s HBO won the Best Drama on TV. Tonight, the program only made the latter win three times, respectively. Tyler James Williams picked up the Supporting Actor statuette alongside her co-star, and Quinta Brunson took home the Best Actress Globe.

Zendaya, who stars in the TV drama Euphoria, won the Best Actress award, building on her previous Emmy win in September. Jeremy Allen White, known for his role in The Bear, was awarded Best Actor in a TV Musical/Comedy for his performance on FX.

Lotus White The Max’s HBO won the Best Limited Series/Anthology/TV Movie, and Evan Peters and Amanda Seyfried took home the respective lead acting trophies for Hulu’s The Dropout and Netflix’s Jeffrey Dahmer: The Dahmer Story. Jennifer Coolidge followed up with her Emmy win for Best Supporting Actress in Lotus White The and Walter Paul Houser nabbed the award for Best Supporting Actor in Apple TV+’s Black Bird.

Julia Garner received the award for Supporting Actress in a TV Drama for the now-completed series Ozark on Netflix.

Among networks — and distributors, for that matter — the combined HBO/HBO Max led the way with four victories tonight, as the streamer contributed three of them. Searchlight and Netflix were the only other companies to achieve triple wins, with Netflix receiving two TV awards and one for film.

Universal also clinched triumph twice for Fabelmans, and The White Lotus was the only other recipient of multiple accolades during the TV portion of the evening.

Ryan Murphy was awarded the Carol Burnett Award by the HFPA tonight, while Eddie Murphy received the Cecil B. Demille Award.

Take a look at the red carpet gallery here – watch his opening speech here – as the annual awards-season kickoff event returned to NBC following the HFPA’s challenging year without a television agreement, with Jerrod Carmichael as the host.
