Is ‘The Age of Adeline’ Based on a Book?

To me, that concept absolutely shouts out that it will become a bestseller on the New York Times list. Everything starts to transform when she meets Ellis Jones, portrayed by Michiel Huisman from Game of Thrones. Her hidden truth has resulted in her living a mainly solitary existence, yet she has remained 29 years old for more than 80 years following a traumatic incident. The narrative tracks Adaline Bowman, portrayed by Blake Lively, a woman who discovers herself incapable of aging. Moreover, the storyline of this grand romance fantasy appears quite literary. After all, a considerable portion of movies hitting theaters nowadays originated from novels. It seems fitting, considering the fact that it is a film set to be released in 2015.

Surprisingly, the movie, which was released on April 24, doesn’t decrease my desire to watch it. The screenplay was written by Salvador Paskowitz and J. Mills Goodloe, known for their work on “The Best of Me”. The Age of Adaline is a completely unique idea, but it is not based on a book. Contrary to expectations, this is not the situation.

If you’re seeking a fantastical atmosphere that originated from novels, there are numerous movies that can fulfill your desires. The fact that The Age of Adaline exists does not imply the absence of other comparable films. With that said, you are fortunate.

The Time Traveler’s Wife (2009)

The film adaptation, featuring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana, was released in 2009. This came as no surprise, given the fact that the novel by Audrey Niffenegger, published in 2003, was a heart-wrenching, romantic, and truly remarkable piece of literature. The story revolves around a man afflicted with a genetic condition that propels him into involuntary time travel, leading him to fall in love with a woman he encounters at various points in her life (who eventually becomes his spouse).

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)

Talk about being ahead of your time. The plot of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, loosely based on a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, actually came out in 2008. However, it won plenty of awards and captured the hearts of many. Benjamin Button is a man who ages backwards, gradually becoming younger and younger until he ceases to be born. Instead of moving forward in time like Adaline, he moves through time backwards. So, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is not frozen in time like Adaline.

Stardust (2007)

Is it incredible for a recipe to sound loose? The evil old woman who needs a young star to say that, the romance is in the air, the throne is up for grabs — within all the dramas and the magical kingdom of Stormhold, stars like Ricky Gervais, Robert DeNiro, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Claire Danes are perfectly translated to the big screen. Stardust is not just a fantasy-based novel, but more like a fantastical masterpiece, brought to life by Neil Gaiman in 1999.

What Dreams May Come (1998)

The film Come May Dreams What is basically a good movie that is both sad and romantic. It is based on a 1978 novel of the same name and tells the story of a husband and wife, played by Annabella Sciorra and Robin Williams, who face immense loss after their children are killed in a car accident. The 1998 film adaptation is heart-wrenching.
