Toni Collette was disappointed about doing The Sixth Sense, here’s why

‘The Sixth Sense is one of the best thriller movies of the 90s. It’s a film that established director and writer M. Night Shyamalan and gave us one of Bruce Willis’s greatest performances. Although the horror movie received mixed reactions from the audience, Toni Collette plays a small but significant role in it.’

She says, “Thus, my attention was mainly devoted to attempting to collaborate with Scorsese.” “Moreover, I was extremely captivated by Marty and evidently desired to [collaborate with him]. I was familiar with him. I was unaware of Night’s identity.” “In reality, I was in New York City meeting Martin Scorsese for a film titled Bringing Out the Dead,” clarifying to Yahoo that Shyamalan’s drama movie became a form of consolation prize, as she was being considered for another project that ultimately fell through.

She received a call from her agent, but unfortunately, it was not the offer she had anticipated. Recalling the moment, she said, “And I was like, ‘Aw’ in disappointment.” “I believed he was offering me the role in ‘Bringing Out the Dead,’ but he actually offered me the opportunity to star in ‘The Sixth Sense’.”

Working with Scorsese would have been a highlight in my career, but unfortunately, I don’t want to collaborate with the man behind Goodfellas and Taxi Driver because he has proven to be more lucrative. Although it was involved in all aspects, it became a touchstone, being one of the highest-grossing movies of 1999.

Collette is still trying to do something with Scorsese, hopefully something that will come to fruition for her. It is said that Paul Schrader wrote the script for the somber film Dead Bringing, featuring Nicolas Cage as an ambulance driver. Both Ving Rhames and John Goodman were cast in the film as well, making it a stacked proposition for any actor.

She has recently been increasing the number of frightening films in her collection, appearing in Ari Aster’s Hereditary and the Netflix film I’m Thinking of Ending Things. Take a look at our compilations of the top vampire movies and top monster movies for additional spine-chilling options.
