This weapon is a major selling point because even though thousands of holsters and accessories exist for Glock 19, it still receives significant upgrades. It’s important to note that not all Glock parts can be used to fit common accessories for Glock 19 due to the rough dimensions of this specific weapon. Additionally, the newest addition to the Poet War family is the Subcompact CR920, which is part of the Glock 19 series. Some may refer to it as a “Gucci Glock” or think of it as a Glock on steroids. The MR920 from Shadow Systems is based on the Glock 19 and built to resemble it. The original Pistol Poet War by Shadow Systems is a 9mm handgun for the Poet Warrior Society.

I might be lucky enough to be able to do a hands-on review of the newest Pistol Poet War, the Subcompact CR920, soon, by Shadow Systems (hint-hint, Shadow Systems π). Lastly, does it provide enough value for the money? If you made upgrades to a standard Glock 19, how much would it cost to see how much this gun would cost? I also wanted to break down all the individual costs and upgrades if you wanted to create an in-depth look at it, explaining the pros and cons for anyone on the fence about purchasing it. I purchased the MR920 version of the Pistol Poet War about three years ago now and have had significant time to carry and shoot it.

What Holsters Fit The War Poet?
The MR920 Platform, developed by Shadow Systems, is compatible with all Glock 19 holsters and accessories. It can work with any Glock 19 holster designed for this model. Nevertheless, there are a limited number of holster makers who produce holsters specifically tailored for the MR920.

I highly recommend this holster, called Concealed One Tier from Axis, for anyone with the MR920 Systems Shadow or Pistol Poet War. It is made with great materials, feels great, and looks great. I purchased one of these holsters, which is compatible with the TLR-7a light and has a sight cutout, making it slim and suitable for concealed carry.
Some additional holster producers that manufacture holsters specifically designed for the MR920 are:
What is the War Poet Pistol?
The pistol, known as the Poet War, made its debut in January 2020 through a collaborative effort between MR918 Systems Shadow and Poet Warrior Systems. It underwent numerous improvements based on valuable customer feedback, resulting in further refining of its features and overall performance. This iteration of the pistol incorporated enhancements quickly, thanks to the valuable feedback received on the upgraded MR920 platform.
So, is the War Poet Pistol Worth It?
I can confidently assert that the Pistol Poet War feels like a reliable and complete package. After extensively using it, I can say that the upgrades offered in comparison to the standard Glock 19 would be worth the investment. Initially, I wasn’t entirely convinced, as I was familiar with the Society Poet Warrior and had heard positive remarks. However, I have developed a strong affinity for the entire setup and must admit that this purchase has exceeded my expectations. In my honest opinion, the Pistol Poet War is absolutely worth it.
One significant disadvantage of piecing together different components from various sources to enhance a standard Glock 19 is the possibility of facing quality problems, concerns about reliability, and a range of other potential issues. However, the War Poet Pistol addresses this issue by including all the desired upgrades directly from the factory, eliminating the requirement for aftermarket accessories.
The Shadow Systems company has conducted thorough testing on this specific firearm, ensuring unwavering reliability and confidence. It’s worth highlighting that an assortment of aftermarket accessories for Glock 19 can’t be easily upgraded, including extended specifications.
Presently, the Pistol Poet War serves as my daily firearm carry, solidifying its position as my trusted companion, providing me with utmost confidence in its abilities, reliability, and performance. I have no intentions of switching to an alternative option in the foreseeable future.
How Does The War Poet Pistol Shoot?
During my initial range session with the Pistol Poet War, I anticipated a learning curve since it was my first experience with a red dot sight on a handgun. Prior accounts had emphasized the importance of achieving near-perfect firearm presentation to ensure optimal visibility of the reticle, as even a slight misalignment could result in completely obscured targeting.
I was extremely satisfied with this discovery. The sight on the box was perfectly calibrated, but I had expected to need to zero the sight. To my surprise, my first five shots formed a tight cluster dead center on the target at a distance of 7 yards. It allowed me to maintain focus on the target with just a single focal point on the gun, which I found to be even more preferable compared to using iron sights. I was pleasantly surprised by how natural the transition felt once I started shooting.
The trigger of the slide, located in the front, has additional stippling underneath to enhance control and grip. Additionally, the trigger proved itself to be a delightful feature, offering a crisp break with a clearly defined reset, facilitating quick follow-up shots.
Is The War Poet Pistol Good For Concealed Carry?
Although I could see that there was only a small amount of printing, I was extremely hesitant about carrying a concealed pistol of the war poet’s size every day, even though it was not heavy. There were times when it seemed too big, and I had carried a smaller 9mm pistol before.

I was awestruck at how well the gun concealed holster fit my body, and finally, after waiting for about a month and a half, I purchased the Slim Axis holster. I liked the idea of having a higher capacity with the Poet War along with the extra mag.
The purchase of a high-quality IWB holster really demonstrated to me the importance of it. With a much smaller 9mm pistol, I could easily conceal it along with a second magazine and the TLR-7A light and red dot. However, I’m not even sure how comfortably I can conceal the Pistol Poet War.
Prior to my current level of concern regarding printing, I used to feel significantly more at ease when carrying in public. The firearm remains completely hidden, even when I wear fitted t-shirts. Typically, I don fitted t-shirts and my height is 6 feet, with a weight of 175 pounds.
How is the War Poet Pistol different from a Glock 19?
The Pistol Poet enhances the convenience and versatility of their existing Glock 19 accessories and gear by seamlessly utilizing them in the War.
Iron Sights β $129
These metallic sights on the pistol showcase a tritium front sight with a prominent green outline and a rear sight in solid black, representing a significant improvement over the included iron sights of the standard Glock 19.

The choice of design further enhances precision and clarity overall when aiming a weapon. The front sight, which eliminates potential distractions and focuses on picking up the target, hinders any hindrances. Additionally, the notable advantage of the absence of color on the rear sight is that it greatly facilitates the swift acquisition of the front sight during the presentation of the weapon. Moreover, the front sight stands out truly in various lighting conditions, particularly in low-light environments, thanks to its vivid green tritium.

The overall design of the Pistol Poet War enhances the picture sight by allowing effective utilization of both the red dot sight and iron sights. The placement of the red dot sights on the handgun ensures improved visibility of the fixed sights, lowering the need for additional adapters. Thanks to the integrated optic cut on the pistol itself, there is no need for extra attachments. The Pistol Poet War comes equipped with standard iron sights that are positioned at an optimal height, enabling them to be visible as backup sights through the Holosun 507C optic.
Optic Cut β $125
The featured optic cut on the War Poet Pistol stands out as one of the most distinctive attributes of the platform, enhancing overall convenience and versatility. This system simplifies the process of utilizing and adding various red dot sights, seamlessly without the need for supplementary adapters or plates. It allows for a wide range of red dot sights to be accommodated, thanks to the remarkable depth achieved through an innovative redesign of the slide’s internal structure.

Red Dot Sight β $309
The Pistol Poet War has been my favorite optic for a variety of reasons. One option is the X2 507C Holosun, which is a standard red dot sight that comes ready on the Pistol Poet War. Another option is a red dot sight, and the Pistol Poet War stock has two options available.
In almost any circumstance, the visual characteristics include a secondary solar safety measure to guarantee that you possess a working visual feature. I cannot anticipate any problems arising in the near future, and I am able to confirm that the battery has had no problems until now. I will not be able to verify if this statement is true for many years, as I am nowhere close to reaching 50k hours, which is an extraordinary assertion. This red dot sight proudly claims a battery life of 50k hours, with the primary focus being on the battery longevity.

The battery life can be extended up to 100,000 hours. In the presence of movement, the device will only illuminate again and enter sleep mode after a certain period of time, as determined by the optic’s programmable “Shake Awake” function from Holosun.
Two sets of batteries, priced at just $6, can be purchased on Amazon. These batteries belong to the CR1632 type. In the past, it was necessary to remove the optic from the handgun, but now you can easily change the battery without any hassle. One of the significant improvements in this version of the Holosun 507c is the addition of a battery tray on the side of the unit.

The overall versatility and user experience of Optic enhances customization and flexibility. This added convenience allows users to switch between three distinct reticle styles without needing to re-zero the sight, providing them with the option to choose. It is specially designed for compatibility with night vision devices, offering dim settings. The brightness of the reticle can be adjusted to suit your preferences, whether you are using it outdoors or indoors. Crafted from highly durable yet lightweight aluminum, this unit possesses a robust construction that exudes functionality and durability.
Upgraded Match-grade Barrel β $234
The pistol comes with an upgraded match-grade barrel, which is threaded and machined from stainless steel 416R. There is increased accuracy and reliability without sacrificing fitment, thanks to the tighter lug and hood barrel.

If you intend to use a suppressor or any barrel attachments, this barrel has a 1/2X28 thread for compatibility.

Upgraded Trigger β $151
The Pistol Poet War comes with a trigger that is designed to be flat-faced, providing a smoother and easier pull while ensuring higher accuracy. The weight of the trigger pull is still 4.5-4, which has been reduced compared to the stock Glock 19 trigger. It is intended for daily carry and accuracy.

Shadow Systems has successfully tested this trigger by firing over 15,000 rounds without encountering any problems. Additionally, this trigger has demonstrated exceptional reliability and durability, as it has been rigorously evaluated by Shadow Systems and proven to withstand falls of up to 22 feet. Therefore, it can be confidently categorized as a trigger that is safe to use even when dropped.
Customizable Grip β $N/A β No Aftermarket Equivalent
This pistol grip, known as the NPOA Systems Shadow, allows you to further customize your liking to angle grip. It comes with three interchangeable backstraps, allowing you to personalize the grip to your liking. The aim of this custom design by Systems Shadow is to completely change the standard angle grip, meeting the needs of point shooters.
Upgraded Slide Work β $215
The slide of the Pistol Poet War undergoes intricate milling work, which serves a functional role in significantly improving grip during activities such as press-checks or racking the gun. The deeper cuts on the front and rear of the slide not only enhance the ease and practicality of handling the firearm, but also contribute to the striking aesthetics of the pistol. Undeniably, this intricate milling work extends beyond mere aesthetics and adds to the overall visual appeal of the pistol.

The tiny windows positioned on both sides of the magazine aid in the cooling of the barrel and the expulsion of debris.
Upgraded Mag Well β $89
It is pleasant to observe the flared magazine well included as a standard feature on the War Poet Pistol. The flared edges efficiently direct the magazine into the firearm without any obstructions, resulting in a smoother process. Even if the magazine is not perfectly aligned, it allows for effortless reloading. Moreover, this after-market upgrade is reasonably priced.

Upgraded Stippling β $100
I know that the placement of my hand on the pad is consistent when I feel my thumb align with the pistol grip. It also provides an extra grip confirmation, not only enabling me to shoot, but also making me aware of how much I needed it, which I never knew before. It is amazing how this little stippling pad enhances the grip. As you can see in the image below, there is stippling specifically for your thumb when using a forward thumb grip, which is the most common placement except for the Poet War pistol. Stippling can help you hold the handgun with an increased grip, allowing for more accurate and consistent shots. Stippling is a very common upgrade for added grip, making your shots more accurate and consistent.
While you may have to pay for the ability to add stippling to a standard Glock 19, in my opinion, the downside is that you won’t have the thumb pad.

Red Dot Sights Compatible With War Poet Pistol
There is no need for additional adapters or plates to make these work sights red. Systems Shadow has a unique proprietary mounting cut that directly fits most major brands of RDS optics when sliding them mounted.

War Poet Pistol Disassembly and Breakdown
Disassemble the MR920 according to the instructions provided by Shadow Systems. However, there are a couple of slight variations that might cause some confusion. The procedure for disassembling the Glock 19 is highly comparable to that of the regular Shadow Systems MR920, much like how the War Poet Pistol can also be broken down.
